Prusa Shows Off New Prusa Mini 3D Printer and Announces Prusa XL

November 16, 2019

Almost everyone who has even looked up 3D printing probably came across the Prusa brand. Known for their premium consumer grade 3D printers, Prusa is now offering a mini version of their popular Prusa MK3. Coming in at a shocking price of $349 (the original Prusa Mk3 retails at $749), I’m predicting the Prusa Mini to be very popular. Due to the price tag, and ease of use, I can see this popping up in classrooms and homes all over the world. This may be the printer that makes 3D printing a household commodity!

Currently, many 3d printers are difficult to assemble, expensive, bulky, loud, etc. All of these issues are a barrier to entry for many people. This doesn’t stop hobbyists, but it puts off schools and families. The Prusa Mini will resolve these concerns and be sold at a reasonable price. I mean people buy phones for $1000 these days; $349 is extremely reasonable. I’m looking forward to seeing reviews of the Prusa Mini roll in to develop a better opinion.

For other hobbyists like myself, better and cheaper options exist such as a printer from Creality. However, these will require modding and a LOT more tinkering to achieve similar print quality as a Prusa printer. I own multiple Creality ender 3 pro printers that I heavily modded and tuned. I am very impressed with the quality of my prints and at a price tag of $210 (depending on the vendor), I am hard pressed to find a better value. I will be posting an in depth review of my ender 3 pro soon.
